The Floyd County Board of Supervisors held a joint meeting Tuesday night with the Charles City City Council and the Floyd County Ambulance Commission where they heard two proposals for an ambulance feasibility study.

MASON CITY — On a rural property outside Mason City, a backyard chicken coop has spent the last year enduring nearly everything North Iowa weather could throw at it — from scorching summer heat and heavy humidity to blizzard conditions and one of the coldest Arctic outbreaks in recent memory.
Twelve months later, the coop still looks nearly brand new.

The Nora Springs Public Library is eager to announce the Summer Library Programs for 2026.
The library is focusing on four different age groups including adults, teens, second through fourth graders, and Pre-K through first graders. All Summer Library Programs are free!

Grace Schmitt, a senior at Rockford High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter ED of Rockford, Iowa.

 The Central Springs Community School District Board of Education at its May 18 meeting was updated about some of the achievements of CSD students from the spring semester.
Superintendent Wade Grinhaug told the Board that during the Senior Awards night that over $923,000 in scholarships were awarded to Central Springs seniors.

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors at their May 19 meeting approved a $530,000 contract with AMR to provide ambulance services to Charles City and asked the County Attorney to request financial information from AMR.
The request for financial information came after the Board learned that AMR was charging 20% more for services in the new contract which begins July 1.

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors at their May 12 meeting approved a resolution on a Fiscal Year 2026 budget amendment.
“This (motion) is to approve the amendment and appropriate the dollars for the budget,” Board Chair Gloria Carr said.
The total change in county department revenues was $99,039, and the total change in expenditures was $166,206.
