The Central Springs baseball team scored three runs in the first, three in the second and Lincoln Levan dominated on the mound with a five inning shutout, striking out nine as the Panthers won their season opener 8-0 on May 26.
Levan and Eddie Pruin each had two hits and Jamison Rothmeyer and Winton Hogen both had two RBIs to lead the offensive attack as the Panthers had seven hits in the game.

Harper Hillman heads to state

Rockford’s Harper Hillman is headed to state. The freshman qualified for the State Track and Field Meet with her performance in the Class 1A Qualifier at Saint Ansgar on May 14.
Hillman finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.41 and earned a spot in Des Moines at Drake University on May 21-23. Her time was a personal best this season, beating her previous time of 1:01.95 which she ran at Nashua-Planfield on May 4.

Crum qualifies for state meet

It was a pretty good week for Braydin Crum. The Central Springs senior earned the Top of Iowa Conference Athlete of the Year Award at the conference meet, finished first in the 100 meters at the Panther Relays and then earned his second straight trip to the State Track and Field Meet in the long jump with his performance in the Class 2A Qualifying Meet in Hudson.

Strong finish for Rockford boys T&F

It’s all any coach can ask. Save your best performance for the biggest moment and that’s exactly what the Rockford boys track and field team did in large at the Class 1A State Qualifier on May 14 at Saint Ansgar High School.
The Warriors set five personal bests in the meet with Trey Stevens doing it three times and Jordan Anderson doing it two events to lead team in the final event of the year.

Central Springs finishes sixth in TIC Meet

Tate Wymore shot an 82 to lead the Central Springs boys golf team as they finished in sixth place in the Top of Iowa Conference Meet at Pioneer Town and Country Club in Manly on May 11.
Sheamus Lindsay posted the second-best round for Central Springs with an 84, Ryan Shimek came in with 90 and Jamison Rothmeyer rounded out the top four with 94.
The rounds by Wymore and Lindsay earned them TIC East All-Conference Honors.
