Briella Hinrichsen went 2-for-3 for 2 RBIs and Ava Koenigsfeld had a double and drove in a pair of runs as Rockford beat Garner Hayfield Ventura 10-4 on July 1.
Central Springs exploded for seven runs in the third inning to take control of their game at Northwood-Kensett as picked up a five-inning win 12-2 over the Vikings.
Gabby Jansen hit a home run and went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs to lead the Panther offense.Ambree Shirley drove in a pair of runs, was 2-for-4 at the plate and Zaila Dahlstrom had 2 RBIs and pitched a complete game for the win.
Central Springs came out strong against the top-ranked team in Class 1A as the Panthers scored two runs in the first and added one in the second to lead 3-0 after two but one big inning by the Indians was too much as Clarksville left Manly with a 13-3 win.
The IHSAA released the postseason baseball brackets for Class 1A and 2A on June 23. Central Springs is in Class 2A District 3 and will take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on July 3 in Garner with the winner taking on Pocahontas Area on July 7. Rockford will play North Butler on July 3 at 7:00 p.m. in Allison with the winner of that game advancing to play Riceville/Northwood Kensett on July 7.
Collin Hinrichsen was outstanding on the mound for Rockford as had seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings, allowed only three hits and two earned runs but suffered a tough 2-1 loss as Clarksville beat the Warriors on June 26.
After coming off their best week of the season where the Rockford softball team won three in a row, the Warriors knew it would be challenging to keep the winning streak alive. Rockford battled, but lost three games, two of them in conference to fall into a fourth-place tie in the Iowa Star-North with Riceville and Janesville. Class 1A Regionals
