The Nora Springs City Council at its May 12 meeting took no action on changes to the City’s employee handbook. 
“It was actually dismissed because our City Attorney told us we could not change anything in regards to maternity leave,” City Administrator Chelsey Wood said.
Wood said the Council tabled action on a purchase order on a Jetter-Vac trailer and tabled action on changes to the Building Permit fees.

First Security Bank recently covered the costs associated with purchasing a variety of materials needed to further equip and train the Nora Springs Volunteer Ambulance Service.

ROCKFORD — Generations of students, athletes and colleagues are remembering Henry “Hank” Vogelman as a steady presence in the Rockford and Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school communities, following his recent passing.

A man who helped shape generations of students and defined an era of leadership in Rockford schools is being remembered this week for both his professional legacy and deep commitment to community.
Larry Hicok, a longtime elementary principal in the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School District, died April 1, 2026, in Charles City at the age of 84. Funeral services are scheduled for May 2.

Central Springs senior Braydin Crum has qualified for the Drake Relays in the long jump.  He is only the second individual in school history to qualify and the first in the long jump.  
Crum enters the competition #16 out of 24 qualifiers, and will be the ninth jumper in flight one on Friday morning, April 24.
Crum currently holds the Central Springs long jump school record with a distance of 22’ 7.5”.
 

Not many Iowa schools can say one of their former students became an American Gladiator, but Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock can make that claim. For Jessie Godderz, the journey began within the walls of the school. He graduated in 2004 and said his passion for fitness started through his relationship with the late Dian Koenigsfeld and her guidance during his high school years.
