The Central Springs football and track teams have built a reputation for more than competition.

The Nora Springs Fire Department’s annual Fireman’s Ball drew a large crowd during Buffalo Days, raising money to help purchase equipment, fund firefighter training and offset rising operating costs.
Fire Chief Mike Miller said the fundraiser was another success thanks to strong community support.

The Rudd Rockford Marble Rock Community School District Board of Education at its June 18 meeting approved the transportation director, maintenance director, and reporting board secretary sharing agreements with Mason City.

The Central Springs Community School District Board of Education on Monday were updated about summer projects underway in the district.

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a contract with Public Consulting Group for an ambulance feasibility study.
The contract is for $44,500, with the cost split between Floyd County and the City of Charles City.
Supervisor Boyd Campbell commented on why Floyd County Medical Center wasn’t part of the cost sharing.

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday noted the expiration of two Families Making Connections DECAT contracts and the Floyd Mitchell Chickasaw Early Childhood Iowa contract by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
HHS Area Service Manager Jason Kilby sent a letter to the Supervisors notifying them of the contract cancellations.

Dani Ollenburg won the Republican nomination for Iowa House District 60 after defeating incumbent State Rep. Jane Bloomingdale in the June 2 primary election.
Unofficial election results showed Ollenburg receiving 1,620 votes, or 57.8%, compared with 1,176 votes, or 41.9%, for Bloomingdale. Nine write-in votes were also cast. Ollenburg won the race by 444 votes.

 The Floyd County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday discussed options on upgrading/building the County’s Secondary Road shops in Nora Springs and Marble Rock.
County Engineer Adam Miller outlined the status of the Secondary Road shops.

Rockford residents will have an opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items and appliances during the city's annual Spring Clean-Up Days, scheduled for June 3-7 at the city dump.
The event is open to Rockford city residents and is designed to help community members clean out homes, garages, basements and storage areas while properly disposing of large items that are not typically collected through regular trash service.
